Please consider making a donation to support me on mission in Bolivia!

Welcome, family and friends! As many of you know I have just finished my 3-month formation in Washington, DC where I prepared to spend two years as a lay-missioner through Franciscan Mission Service. During my classes I learned more about social justice, Catholic Social Teaching, Franciscan spirituality, how to serve while being respectful of religious and cultural differences, and much more.

Beginning in January, I will be living out my call to service at Unidad Academica Campesina (UAC) in Carmen Pampa, Bolivia. The UAC is a rural University which serves mainly first-generation college students from economically poor rural areas and provides areas of study such as agriculture, education, and nursing. The University places an emphasis on students returning to their homes to enrich their own rural communities after graduation.

I will begin by teaching an English class while also exploring and discerning other opportunities to get involved with on campus. Because of my passion for agriculture and my role as an undergraduate TA in college, I am very excited for the many ways in which I can get involved! While much of my role is undetermined I know that I will be living in simplicity and solidarity among the students, most of whom come from economically poor communities. A large part of my ministry will be ministry of presence. I will serve with an open heart and mind so that I may listen to the struggles and joys of the students.

I have taken the challenge to raise $16,000 to offset the estimated $50,000 it costs to be a missioner. This money helps support my time in formation, travel expenses, language school, and other living expenses. “Some give by going, others go by giving.” I hope that you will consider “going by giving” and joining me on my journey. I am so grateful for any financial or prayerful support! Your generosity makes it possible for me to live and serve solidarity with the students in Carmen Pampa. ˇMuchas Gracias!
